Great post and interview. Please do know there are some schools where diversity of students does exist. I teach high school in Houston and we have a wide spectrum of student demographic diversity that reflects the city. We have the very poor and very rich and from all ethnic backgrounds. Sometimes students self select within their groups but just as often they do not. It’s the best part of my day when I see kids of all types laughing together.
This is a really helpful and necessary reminder! We have integrated schools and districts that we can and should use more as models and I hope we do so :)
